Foothill Elementary Students and Parents:
I would like to take this opportunity to express to you my excitement about being appointed as the new principal at Foothill Elementary School. I feel fortunate to be joining a school culture focused on student learning, a commitment to high expectations, innovation, and collaboration. It is my intention to carry on these important traditions and practices.
To introduce myself, I have been an educator in the Alpine School District for 15 years both as a teacher and an administrator. I graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor of Arts in History/English Teaching in 1994 and a Masters in Administration in 1999. In 2007, I obtained my Doctorate from the University of Utah.
As a teacher I taught junior and senior high school History/English and created an integrated class called American Studies. Concurrently, I taught and later served as the principal of a school for at-risk students in Provo. During the past eight years, I have had the pleasure of working as an administrator at both Lehi Junior High and Mountain Ridge Junior High. All of these experiences have provided me a myriad of opportunities to interact with many diverse groups of students such as those here at Foothill.
It is a privilege to become part of a school where the community works along with the classroom teachers to give every child the best educational opportunity in achieving their goals and dreams. Foothill Elementary School is truly a special place where dreams are realized and success is achieved. I look forward to the journey we will take together as “Foothill Explorers!” |
